The dye helps reveal any blockages in blood flow. Sometimes a computer removes bone and tissue from the viewed images so that only the blood vessels filled with dye are visible. This is called digital subtraction angiography (DSA). After the x-ray, the catheter is removed.
Procedure takes 30 minutes to 1 hour and is done without anaesthesia. Patient can go home after 8 hours or next morning.
